Frequently Asked Questions

How tall is the safety fence?

48″ tall, by code requirement

How big are the holes and are caps included?

We drill a 1 1/4″ hole to insert our sleeve into your deck. Those sleeves hold the poles that occur every 3′ in the system. And yes…caps are included.

How easily are safety fences removed?

Safety fences can be removed in minutes, by adults only.

  1. Release the hooks that hold the sections together.
  2. Pull up the poles from the sleeves.
  3. Place the section on the ground and pull it up like a giant burrito.

How strong are the fences?

Extremely! It takes a grown man, pushing with all his strength, to bend a pole.

What color is the most popular?

80% of clients get black fencing, because of its transparency.

Can the fence be installed on dirt?

Yes, we drive approximately 2′ conduit pipes into the grade for installs that require it. We do recommend that homeowners put small concrete circles around our conduit pipes to prevent erosion over time.

How do you get through the fence?

The standard opening, which is included with the standard safety fence, is where you release a child safety hook from an eyelet. That takes the tension off the section, and allows you to pull up a pole from the sleeve that we’re going to install in the deck. You would then place that pole to the side with the accompanying 3′ of mesh fabric attached. That sequence takes about 5 seconds to perform.

As an alternative, the optional piece of equipment is the self-closing, self-latching gate. That is similar to something you’ve seen at an apartment complex swimming pool. You lift a MagnaLatch plunger 4″ up in the air, that allows you to open a framed gate, and as you walk through, it automatically closes behind. That sequence takes about 2 seconds to perform.

Are self-closing, self-latching gates needed? And how many clients buy them?

About 25% of our clients get the self-closing, self-latching gates. They are optional, and can be installed in the future, for the same cost, if you want to defer that decision to another day.

How far away from the pool is the fence typically?

Code requires 20″ off the water edge (or more). That distance is about shoulder width and allows the people using the pool to comfortably walk around it.
